About TrailsideTalks
Our story, our passion, and our journey to discover the world one trail at a time.
Our Story
TrailsideTalks was born from a simple dream: to explore the great outdoors and share those incredible experiences with fellow adventure enthusiasts. What started as weekend getaways in our beloved Jeep Gladiator, "Green Goblin," has evolved into a passionate pursuit of discovering hidden gems and epic trails across diverse landscapes.
We believe that adventure is more than just reaching a destination – it's about the journey, the connections we make, and the stories we collect along the way. Every trip teaches us something new, strengthens our bond as a couple, and ignites our desire to explore further.
Through TrailsideTalks, we hope to inspire others to embrace the outdoor lifestyle, try new experiences, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

My Story
From the Autobahn to Backroads
Welcome to TrailsideTalks.
My name is Guido, and this is the story behind the adventures, the builds, the lessons learned, and the occasional "well... that did not go as planned" moments along the way. 😉
I grew up in Germany, where exploring the outdoors often meant hiking, discovering historic places, and enjoying the incredible landscapes that were never too far away. Years later, life brought me to Arizona — a place that completely changed my perspective on adventure.
The Southwest is different.
The distances are bigger. The landscapes are endless. A road that looks like it goes nowhere often leads to somewhere unforgettable.
That curiosity is what started this journey.
From Camping to Overlanding
At first, it was simple: get outside, explore, and enjoy the scenery.
But like many adventures, it slowly evolved.
A weekend camping trip became a reason to improve the setup. A simple campsite became a challenge to solve: How do we stay comfortable? How do we make power reliable? What equipment actually works when we are miles away from the nearest town?
Before long, the Jeep became more than just transportation.
It became our adventure platform.
Meet Green Goblin, our Jeep Gladiator.
The goal was never to build the most expensive rig or chase every latest trend. The goal was to create something practical, reliable, and capable of taking us places we want to explore.
Every modification has a reason. Every piece of gear has a story.
And sometimes, every mistake teaches us something new.
The People Behind TrailsideTalks
We are not full-time YouTubers, professional explorers, or sponsored adventurers.
During the week, we have regular jobs and regular responsibilities.
Tori spends her workdays in the Phoenix area, surrounded by the energy of the big city. I work from home, surrounded by the things that have followed me throughout my career: computers, monitors, keyboards, and more projects than I probably need. 😉
The contrast is part of what makes this adventure special.
During the week, it is meetings, technology, and solving problems.
When we leave the driveway, it becomes trails, campsites, campfires, and discovering what is around the next corner.
TrailsideTalks is about finding that balance — showing that adventure does not require quitting your job, owning the most expensive equipment, or having unlimited time.
Sometimes it is simply about making the most of the time you have.
Building, Learning, and Sharing
I have always enjoyed understanding how things work.
Whether it is computers, electronics, vehicles, or camping equipment, I like knowing the "why" behind things.
That mindset naturally carried over into overlanding.
Our Jeep setup, 12V power system, solar solution, camping gear, and modifications were not created because someone told us what to buy. They were researched, built, tested, adjusted, and improved through experience.
Sometimes things work exactly as planned.
Sometimes they become a learning experience.
Both are valuable.
Because the best adventures are not always the ones where everything goes perfectly. Sometimes the best stories come from solving problems along the way.
Why TrailsideTalks?
TrailsideTalks started as a YouTube channel with a simple idea:
Invite people along on our adventures.
We wanted to share more than just the final campsite, the beautiful views, or the finished projects.
We wanted to share the journey.
The planning.
The building.
The testing.
The improvements.
The mistakes.
The lessons learned.
Whether we are exploring new trails, improving our Jeep setup, cooking at camp, or figuring out how to make life outdoors more comfortable, TrailsideTalks is about sharing the real experience behind the adventure.
Over time, it grew into more than just videos.
It became a place to document what we have learned and share information that might help others on their own journeys:
- Practical camping and overlanding guides
- Jeep modifications and gear discussions
- Off-grid power and 12V systems
- Camp cooking ideas
- Lessons learned from real-world experience
We are not here to pretend we have all the answers.
We are here to share what we discover.
Welcome Along
Everyone's adventure looks different.
Some people travel across continents. Some explore the trails close to home. Some build amazing vehicles. Others simply pack a cooler and spend a night under the stars.
There is no single right way.
For us, it is about exploring, learning, building, and enjoying the journey.
So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and join us around the virtual campfire.
Welcome to TrailsideTalks.
